Orphans Press appointed G.P. Thomas to work in conjunction with David Taylor Architects to build a purpose designed factory and offices for their commercial printing and web design operations.
A major part of the brief was to present a modern face for the business, to complement the fast moving and technical nature of their services. The company had purchased one of the first plots on Leominster’s new Enterprise Park and as main contractors our brief was to work closely with David Taylor to deliver a new building with form as well as function, combining production practicality as well as comfortable and impressive offices. The new premises were completed within a six months timeframe and the building was ready in time for Orphans Press to complete the move of substantial machinery with minimal downtime.
The distinctive red used on the steelworks, window frames and details matches the brand identity of the business. The premises allow for future expansion and, although the Enterprise Park has welcomed new additions, remains a standout building on the Park. It has given fresh impetus to a business with a proud history but now a much admired building to reflect the leading edge, technology based services they offer. The building was nominated for the West of England LABC Building Excellence Awards and we were honoured to join Orphans Press to receive the award at a gala presentation evening in Bristol.
